Emirates set to launch all-A380 on thrice-daily Dubai to Sydney flights

Emirates announced that starting November 4, 2023, it will upgrade its services to Sydney International Airport (SYD) to an all-Airbus A380 operation. 

The Dubai-based carrier will replace the Boeing 777-300ER currently being deployed on EK 416 and 417 to SYD airport. 

Emirates currently operates daily flights three times a day from Dubai to Sydney, and with the third service now upgraded to another A380, an additional 2,000 seats per week will be added to the route.

The third A380 service will be set in a three class configuration offering 489 seats. The other two services are on a four class configuration which features the airline’s latest Premium Economy cabin.

The third Dubai to Sydney A380 flight will operate on the following schedule:

EK 416 Departs  from Dubai at 2130 local time arriving in Sydney at 1820  local time. 

EK 417 Departs Sydney at 2110 local time, arriving in Dubai at 0430 local time.

“With the triple daily A380 service, Emirates continues to connect Australians to Dubai and onwards to a wealth of iconic destinations,” Barry Brown, Emirates divisional vice president Australasia, said in an emailed statement.

Emirates currently operates 63 weekly services to Australia, offering close to 56,000 seats.

Melbourne and Sydney operate three times daily, Brisbane is served with double daily flights, and the airline also operates its flagship A380 daily to Perth. 

Emirates has also reintroduced services from Melbourne to Singapore, in addition to connecting Sydney with Christchurch, the only A380 experience across the Trans-Tasman.
