Finland’s flag carrier Finnair has appointed Turkka Kuusisto as the airline’s new CEO after acquiring his talents from a European postal delivery company.
Kuusisto, 44, joins Finnair from Posti Group Corporation, which describes itself as ‘delivery and fulfillment’ serving customers in Finland, Sweden and the Baltics.
Kuusisto is scheduled to start with Finnair on July 11, 2024, after four years as CEO of Posti Group Corporation.
After the aviation downturn following the COVID-19 pandemic breakout and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Finnair is looking to reboot its performance.

Finnair has restored its profitability after the historic double crisis, and the company is well positioned to continue to build a sustainable future, offering excellent connections via its Helsinki hub to both Finns and to customers traveling between Europe and Asia, the Middle East, and Americas”, Sanna Suvanto-Harsaae, Chair of the Board of Directors at Finnair, said.
Suvanto-Harsaae praised Kuusisto for his “strong understanding of complex industries” and his “proven people leadership and strategy skills”.
Finnair’s current CEO Topi Manner will leave the company on January 15, 2024, to later take up the same position with Elisa Corporation.
