Japan Airlines announced its new Airbus A350-1000 aircraft will debut on its first route to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).
The announcement was made on December 10, 2023, just a few days ahead of the delivery of the first aircraft of this type to the Japanese airline, which is already an A350-900 operator.
The flight to JFK will be operated from Tokyo Haneda (HND) from January 24, 2024.
JAL expects to receive a second A350-1000 in the first quarter of 2024, which will also be assigned to the New York route.
The third aircraft of the type, also to be activated in 2024, will be deployed on the service between Haneda and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Texas.
The choice of routes is not coincidental. In addition to the A350-1000 offering ultra long-range capabilities, JAL is fitting these aircraft with a brand-new state-of-the-art four class cabin interior.
In addition to its spacious first class suites, JAL’s A350-1000 has also been fitted with business class seats set up as private rooms, offering unprecedented privacy in this category of product.
Further details regarding JAL’s new long-haul cabin are expected to be disclosed upon delivery of the aircraft later this week. Stay tuned for more updates from AeroTime.
