Lufthansa has announced some key managerial changes, with chief commercial officer (CCO) Stefan Kreuzpaintner taking over the role of network, alliance and partner management for the airline group.

Lufthansa has looked to its own ranks to fill the position of CCO, selecting Heiko Reitz, who had already been leading several high-profile projects within the German carrier, such as product harmonisation across the different airlines of the group and the establishment of strategic joint ventures, with partners such as rail operator Deutsche Bahn.

As CCO, Kreuzpaintner oversaw the further consolidation of Lufthansa as a premium brand in the air travel market, including the development of the new Allegris cabin product, which the German airline is about to start rolling out across its long-haul fleet in 2023. He also had to wrestle with the impact of the COVID-19 crisis, steering the airline during that troubled period.

In his new position, it is expected that Kreuzpaintner will keep driving further alignment between the Lufthansa Group multiple brands as well as with their external partners.
