A passenger onboard Indian airline Vistara has been arrested in Mumbai for allegedly harassing and flashing cabin crew members during the flight.

The incident took place on a September 6, 2023 flight from Muscat International Airport (MCT) to Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) via Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM).

It’s alleged that, 30 minutes prior to landing in Mumbai, a 30 year-old man stood from his seat and forcibly hugged a female flight attendant and also tried to kiss her. Other crew members and passengers intervened, and during this time, the man allegedly flashed them.

Police arrested the man when the flight landed in Mumbai.

“An incident regarding an unruly passenger was reported on Vistara flight UK 234 operating from Muscat to Mumbai on 06 September. In view of the gross misconduct, the captain issued a warning letter and made the decision to restrain the customer,” an airline spokesperson said in a statement which was published by local media.

The accused was presented in a Mumbai court on September 7, 2023, when his lawyer claimed that he is suffering from a mental disorder, and could not speak either Hindi or English.
