Passengers on a Qantas flight QF 46 from Bali’s Denpasar International Airport (DPS) to Melbourne Airport (MEL) worked together with crew to restrain a man who became disruptive during the flight.

It is alleged that the 28-year old man from Victoria started lashing out at fellow passengers and cabin crew during the almost six-hour flight on December 30, 2023.

Several video clips of the incident have been uploaded on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). One video shows the moment the man lunged at a flight attendant, where witnesses allege that he also told her to give him a kiss.

The man was eventually tackled to the ground, and for the next four hours, passengers and crew took turns restraining him until the flight touched down in Melbourne in the morning of December 31, 2023.

Australian Federal Police (AFP) boarded the flight and took the man for medical assessment.

An AFP spokesperson told Australian media that it continues to investigate the incident and that no charges have been made.

Meanwhile, Qantas said that it has zero tolerance for disruptive or threatening behavior and that its number one priority is the safety of its customers and crew.
