Power has been restored in Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) after most terminals lost power on the afternoon of February 1, 2023.

The 50-minute power outage caused disruption in operations – stalling TSA security screening and delaying flight operations.

While the airfield remained fully operational, all nine terminals of the airport were affected.

Although it is not known exactly how many flights were delayed due to the outage, flight tracker site FlightRadar24 showed at least 30 flights were mostly delayed in the afternoon of February 1, 2023 at LAX.

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) said that it was able to restore service to LAX by rerouting power.

Power was restored at around 15:30 local time.

No immediate word has been released on what caused the outage, though there are reports that businesses and hotels along Century Boulevard, which is east of the airport, and other areas of Westchester were also impacted.
