Top 20 world’s best airlines 2023: a celebration of air travel

Since they were introduced in 1999, The World Airline Awards have become a hallmark of global customer satisfaction in the aviation industry. With over 100 customer nationalities participating in the 2022/2023 survey, these awards provide an independent and impartial assessment of airlines across all travel classes. A total of 325 airlines were included in this year’s survey results.  

Let’s take a closer look at the overall winners and the Top 20 airlines that have earned recognition for their exceptional services in 2023. 

Overall winners 

We will start by exploring the airlines that secured the 5th, 4th, 3rd, and 2nd places, before unveiling the prestigious Top 1 airline that has been crowned as the world’s best at the 2023 World Airline Awards. 

5. Japan Airlines

Excellence in Economy Class. Japan Airlines takes the crown as the World’s Best Economy Class Airline, along with winning the award for the World’s Best Economy Class Seat. The airline’s commitment to passenger comfort and outstanding service has earned it a prominent position on the global aviation stage. 

4. Emirates

Elevating the travel experience. Emirates, known for its opulence and world-class service, secured fourth place in the global rankings. With its extensive route network and luxurious amenities, Emirates remains a top choice for discerning travelers seeking a premium travel experience. 

3. ANA All Nippon Airways

Consistent excellence. Securing a third place in the global ranking, ANA All Nippon Airways continues to impress with its commitment to outstanding service. The airline excelled in categories such as Airport Services and Cleanliness, showcasing its dedication to ensuring a seamless travel experience for passengers. 

2. Qatar Airways

Setting the standard in Business Class, Qatar Airways, a seven-time winner of the Airline of the Year award, holds last year’s position as the World’s Best Business Class Airline. The airline’s dedication to providing an exceptional business class experience is evidenced in its wins this year for the World’s Best Business Class Seat and the World’s Best Business Class Lounge. Qatar Airways also clinched the title of Best Airline in the Middle East, cementing its reputation as a leader in luxury air travel. 

Top 1 – Singapore Airlines

The epitome of luxury, Singapore Airlines has once again claimed the title of the world’s best airline at the 2023 World Airline Awards, marking the fifth time it has received the prestigious Airline of the Year honor. The airline also dominated the first-class categories, winning awards for the World’s Best First Class, First Class Seat, and First Class Comfort Amenities. It further secured the position of Best Airline in Asia, showcasing its commitment to delivering unparalleled comfort and service. 

These airlines have all showcased excellence in their respective categories and have received well-deserved recognition for their commitment to customer satisfaction.

Special achievements and regional successes 

Turkish Airlines emerged as a frontrunner in Europe, securing an impressive four awards, including the coveted title of Best Airline in Europe in a highly competitive category. 

Cathay Pacific achieved a remarkable feat as it is honored for the first time as the recipient of the prestigious World’s Best Inflight Entertainment award. 

EVA Air’s pioneering efforts in premium economy class were acknowledged with the award for the World’s Best Premium Economy Class and Best Premium Economy Class Catering. 

Fiji Airways celebrated its first-time win as the Best Airline in Australia/Pacific , as well as securing the Best Airline Staff Service award in the region for the third time.  

Vistara maintained its position as the Best Airline in India/South Asia, emphasizing its commitment to excellence in this rapidly growing market. 

In North America, Delta Air Lines emerged as the Best Airline, as well as the recipient of the Best Airline Staff Service in the region. Delta Air Lines’ dedication to providing exceptional service and ensuring a pleasant travel experience has earned it recognition among voters.
