Turbulence causes fatal injury to passenger on private flight over Massachusetts

A passenger was killed on a private flight which departed from Keene, New Hampshire, on March 3, 2023.  

The accident occurred on a private Bombardier Challenger 300 jet which took off from Keene Dillant-Hopkins Airport (EEN) on route to Leesburg Executive Airport (JYO), Virginia. 

A turbulence event caused the flight to divert and resulted in fatal injuries to a passenger, according to a statement published by Twitter account of US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). 

The flight diverted to Windsor Locks Bradley International Airport (BDL), Connecticut. NTSB started an investigation into the event, the statement added. 

ADSB Exchange data shows that the aircraft took off from, EEN at 3:35 PM EST (20:35 GMT) on March 3, 2023. The flight started diverting East approximately ten minutes after takeoff, while flying over Springfield, Massachusetts, and landed at BDL at 12:00 GMT. 

According to a report by Associated Press, five people were onboard the jet, which belonged to Missouri-based Conexion LLC. 

CBS News report adds that Conexion confirmed that the deceased person was a passenger and not a member of the crew.
