Where to watch RAAF flypasts for Australia Day 2024

Australia Day 2024 marks 236 years since the first fleet of ships from Britain arrived on the shores of Sydney. 

While there are different opinions on how January 26 should be marked, the date gathers aviation enthusiasts all over the country for the yearly Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) flypasts.

The RAAF has now released its flypast schedule for 2024 covering states and cities throughout Australia. 

Australian Capital Territory (ACT)

Time: 09:30 Where:  Rond Terrace, Commonwealth Park Canberra, ACT Aircraft:  1 x GAF Canberra Mk.20

New South Wales (NSW)

Time: 11:30 Where: Fly Point, Victoria Parade Nelson Bay, NSW Aircraft: 1 x E-7A Wedgetail

Time: 11:30 Where: Riverside Park, Raymond Terrace, Port Stephens, NSW Aircraft: 1 x E-7A Wedgetail

Time: 12:02 Where: Sydney Harbour, Sydney, NSW Aircraft: 6 x Roulettes PC-21

Time: 18:00 Where: Governor Phillip Park, George St Windsor, NSW Aircraft: 1 x Roulettes PC-21

Victoria (VIC)

Time: 12:15 Where: Federation Square & Government House, Kings Domain, Melbourne, Victoria Aircraft: 1 x CAC CA-18 Mustang

Time: 13:00 Where: Royal Geelong Yacht Club, Eastern Beach Rd, Geelong, VIC Aircraft: 1 x CAC CA-18 Mustang

Western Australia (WA)

Time: 08:00 Where: Sir James Mitchell Park, Mills Point Road South Perth, WA. Aircraft: 1 x PC-21

South Australia (SA)

Time: 19:05. Where: Elder Park, Torrens River, King William Rd, Adelaide, SA Aircraft: 1 x P-8A Poseidon

Northern Territory (NT)

    Time: 11:30 Where: The Cenotaph, Bicentennial Park, The Esplanade, Darwin, NT Aircraft: 4 x F-35A Lightning II

    Time: 11:32 Where: Palmerston Recreation Reserve, Palmerston, NT Aircraft: 4 x F-35A Lightning II

    Time: 12:30 Where: Godinymayin Yijard River Arts and Cultural Centre, Stuart Hwy Katherine East Aircraft: 4 x F-35A Lightning II

    No flypast schedules have been released for Queensland as of January 23, 2024.

    The RAAF has issued a statement reminding the public that flying is subject to variables including air traffic control requirements, weather, and operational availability. As such, flypasts, displays and number of aircraft may be subject to change or cancellation at short notice.
