Tornado ravages one of Nashville’s airports
Multiple tornadoes struck central Tennessee on March 3, 2020, including one that directly hit Nashville John C. Tune Airport (JWN). The public airport has been closed while damages are being assessed.
No injuries were reported at the airport. The public is advised to avoid the area. The city’s main airport, Nashville International (BNA), remains operational.
“John C. Tune Airport (JWN), BNA’s sister airport in West Nashville, sustained significant damage due to severe weather earlier this morning,” an airport spokesperson said. “There were no reported injuries. Several hangars have been destroyed, and power lines are down.” A NOTAM informs that the airport should remain closed until at least March 10, 2020. Aerial pictures taken by the city police showed damaged planes embedded in one another, and debris littering the runways.

Harmony Air, a flight training and charter company based at the airport, was severely affected by the disaster. “We lost most everything,” said the owner Randy Harmon to the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA).
At least 23 people were killed by the tornadoes that devastated four counties of Tennessee in the middle of the night. “We send our love and our prayers of the nation to every family that was affected,” said President Donald Trump, who should visit the area by the end of the week.
