Air India has launched its first flagship lounge, named ‘The Maharaja’, at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in New Delhi.

The Maharaja Lounge is the first of several modern lounges that the airline intends to open at airports across India and the world, the carrier announced on February 6, 2026.

“The Maharaja Lounge is a significant milestone in our transformation journey,” said Campbell Wilson, CEO & Managing Director of Air India. “We endeavour to set a benchmark in aviation hospitality, and this is just the beginning. Our strategic expansion plans include substantial investments to build more such platforms across countries that we fly to that will redefine luxury and comfort for our guests.”

In time, the lounge will welcome guests traveling in Business and First Class, Gold and Platinum Maharaja Club members, and eligible Star Alliance members, starting from February 16, 2026.

Designed by the global design studio Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA), the Maharaja Lounge showcases updated interiors that align with Air India’s new brand identity.

The area boasts new furniture, improved lighting design, and curated artwork that reflects Indian cultural themes.

Additionally, the lounge features distinct zones tailored to various needs, providing quiet areas for relaxation or work, alongside livelier spaces for social interaction. Key sections within the lounge consist of dedicated dining, work, relaxation and social areas.

For example, the lounge presents a variety of dining choices, including Indian and international dishes, as well as live cooking stations.

The airline has also highlighted the introduction of a tea program, offering freshly brewed tea made to individual passenger preferences, along with snacks and savories served from a dedicated tea trolley.
