United Airlines has secured financing worth $390 million from British multinational bank Standard Chartered for four Airbus A321neo and five Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
On August 11, 2026, Standard Chartered announced in a statement that the arrangement would support United Airlines‘ “ongoing fleet optimization and fuel efficiency strategy”.
Standard Chartered acted as the lead arranger and the initial lender for the approximately $390 million transaction.
The UK company said that the financing will assist United’s “continued investment in next generation narrowbody aircraft”.
“We are pleased to build on our relationship with United Airlines through this latest financing,” said Abhishek Pandey, Global Head of Transportation Finance at Standard Chartered. “As fleet investment requirements continue to grow, airlines increasingly value financing partners that can act in a timely manner and deliver financing solutions at scale.”

He added: “This transaction reflects the continued growth of our aviation finance business and demonstrates our ability to support strategic clients by leveraging our global network and distribution capabilities.”
United and Standard Chartered previously worked together in 2025 to arrange aircraft financing for the US operator.
In October 2025, Standard Chartered announced that it had provided financing of five Airbus A321neo aircraft for United.
According to ch-aviation data, United is awaiting deliveries of 132 Airbus A321neos and 49 A321XLRs. The airline is also expecting delivery of 58 Boeing 737 MAX 9s and 165 737 MAX 10s.
