Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the largest Bangladeshi carrier, announced on September 24, 2026, that it has ordered an additional 11 aircraft from Boeing, consisting of five B787-10 and six B737-8 MAX aircraft.
This is separate from an earlier order placed by Biman with the US manufacturer in April 2026. On that occasion, Biman ordered 14 aircraft; a mix of eight 787-10s, two 787-9s and four 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
The deal was signed on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, in the presence of the US Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, and the Deputy Secretary of State, Christopher Landau, as well as the Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism of Bangladesh, Rashiduzzaman Millat.
When announcing the deal, Rumee A Hossain, Chairman of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, highlighted that the incremental order was part of the airline’s ongoing fleet and network expansion plans.
“This agreement is one part of a broader, carefully considered plan to strengthen the country’s international connectivity in the years ahead,” he stated.
When combined, the two orders placed in 2026, totaling 25 aircraft, represent a huge increase in terms of capacity for the Bangladeshi airline. According to ch-aviation data, as of September 2026, Biman Bangladesh Airlines operates 14 jet aircraft (four B777s, four B737-800s four B787-8s and two B787-9s), in addition to three DHC-8 turboprops.
