Several European airlines including Ryanair, Wizz Air, LOT Polish Airlines and Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) have been targeted by a series of bomb threats within hours of each other.

On November 3, 2026, LOT Polish Airlines confirmed that a Boeing 737 MAX 8 departed London-Heathrow (LHR) at 06:43 for Warsaw Chopin (WAW) but was forced to divert Warsaw Modlin (WMI) due to a “threat”.

LOT told AeroTime that it was notified by airport authorities of a potential security threat on board its aircraft. Once landed, the aircraft taxied to a designated parking stand and underwent a security inspection.

“The aircraft security inspection has been completed, with no suspicious items found,” a LOT Polish Airlines spokesperson said. “Following border control checks, passengers were transferred to Warsaw Chopin Airport by coach.”

SAS Airbus A320neo subject of a threat

An SAS Airbus A320neo was also the subject of a threat after departing Copenhagen Airport (CPH) for Warsaw Chopin.

The aircraft departed just before 08:30, local time, on November 3, 2026, and landed normally in Warsaw where the passengers disembarked.

“We are following established security procedures while taking care of our passengers and crew,” an SAS spokesperson said. “The matter is now being handled by the police in Warsaw, and we are following their instructions.”

Manchester flight triggers bomb scare

Spanish authorities also confirmed that a bomb threat was made to a flight from Manchester Airport (MAN) that was flying to Murcia Corvera Airport (RMU).

Francisco Lucas, the Government Delegate in the Region of Murcia, wrote on social media that 114 passengers and seven crew members have disembarked at MRU, and the aircraft was undergoing a security check.

He later added that police had “ruled out the presence of explosives on the plane” following its inspection.

The only airline to arrive at Murcia Corvera from Manchester so far on November 3, 2026, is a Ryanair Boeing 737 MAX 8-200, according to Flightradar24 data.

Local media in Murcia also posted a photo of a Ryanair aircraft surrounded by airport staff, indicating a “large-scale security operation”.

More potential threat developments including Wizz Air

Additionally, the BBC reported that sources at Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) said two Ryanair flights arriving from Lisbon and Dublin were checked over potential bomb threats.

There have also been reports in the media that an El Al flight from Israel to Sofia Vasil Levski Airport (SOF) was also a target.

After speaking to a Bulgarian interior ministry spokesperson, AFP has since stated that this was a Wizz Air flight from Bergamo in Italy.

The carrier added: “The relevant authorities carried out the necessary security checks in accordance with established security protocols and procedures, and the aircraft was subsequently cleared. Wizz Air is cooperating fully with the authorities. The safety of our passengers and crew remains our highest priority.”
