Boeing has confirmed that a triple-digit order announced last month from lessor Avolon is for 737 MAX 10 aircraft, the US planemaker’s most recently certified jet.

On November 4, 2026, Boeing released a statement stating that the agreement had been finalized, cementing the deal as the largest ever 737 MAX order by a lessor.

Avolon announced on October 9, 2026, that it has entered a firm order with Boeing for 140 737 MAX 10 aircraft without confirming the variant selected.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certified Boeing’s largest MAX aircraft on October 20, 2026, clearing the way for deliveries to begin.

In October 2026, Avolon said that the order would need final approval from the shareholders of Bohai Leasing, its parent company. Shareholder approval was expected by the end of last month.

“We continue to see strong demand for new technology aircraft, and this order further strengthens our long-term delivery pipeline. The 737-10 combines outstanding economics with the capacity airlines increasingly require, making it one of the most attractive aircraft in its class,” Avolon CEO Andy Cronin said. “This agreement enhances our ability to support airline growth and fleet renewal well into the next decade, while further strengthening our long-standing partnership with Boeing.”

According to Boeing, Avolon’s backlog for MAX aircraft stands at more than 240 unfilled orders.

“Avolon’s growing and diverse 737 MAX portfolio enables its airline customers to modernize fleets with aircraft that reduce emissions and operating costs, improve route economics and support long-term sustainability goals,” Brad McMullen, Boeing Senior Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing, said. “As long-term travel demand is expected to remain strong, we stand ready to support lessors expanding their single-aisle portfolios with fuel-efficient jets that can operate across diverse route networks.”

Avolon also recently entered a firm order with Airbus for 110 aircraft, comprising 75 A320neo family and 35 A330neos, with options for a further 100.
