Airbus launches A220-based ACJ TwoTwenty business jet
Airbus Corporate Jets (ACJ) launched the ACJ TwoTwenty business jet. The new aircraft is based on the Airbus A220 and is as a part of The Xtra Large Bizjet, a new class of business and VIP jets.
The new jet is based on the Airbus A220-100 aircraft model. It will be able to take off from the same airports as its competitors do. The ACJ TwoTwenty will also occupy the same parking space while offering from 2 to 3 times as much cabin space in comparison to other business jets, according to the manufacturer.
On October 6, 2020, Airbus announced that the ACJ TwoTwenty will also have a flexible cabin catalog that will meet the requirements for business jets in heavy and long-range categories. The manufacturer promised that the cabin will be equipped with a variety of innovations starting from a Wi-Fi system all across the cabin as well as LED lighting and electro-chromatic windows.
“We are proud to extend the ACJ product Family with the launch of the ACJ TwoTwenty. The aircraft combines intercontinental range, unmatched personal space and comfort for all passengers. This latest technology platform offers unbeatable economics and unrivaled reliability,” Benoit Defforge, the President ACJ, announced in a press release.
“Based on its compelling market appeal, we see promising demand for this aircraft in the growing business jet market,” added Defforge.
Airbus stated that the ACJ TwoTwenty will be able to operate distances up to 5,650 nm/10,500 km. The jet will manage to fly over 12 hours while cutting its operating costs by a third.
„The A220 Family is the quietest, cleanest and most eco-friendly aircraft in its category, featuring a 50 percent reduced noise footprint compared to previous generation aircraft, and up to 25 percent lower fuel burn,“ stated the manufacturer.
The cost of the new ACJ TwoTwenty is expected to reach $70 million with standard options.
