Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair announced the launch of its new base at Paris-Beauvais Airport (BVA). This became the fourth airline’s base in France which equates to a $200 million investment. 

Ryanair would operate two aircraft from the BVA base. The new hub would offer 28 routes connecting Paris-Beauvais to more than 10 destinations across Europe, including holiday routes to Alicante, Bari, Faro, and Thessaloniki as well as business hubs such as Dublin, Lisbon, Milan, Madrid, and Barcelona. However, the airline did not specify what type of jets, any of the company’s Boeing 737-800s or Airbus A320s, would serve the hub.

During the Paris-Beauvais opening event, Eddie Wilson, the CEO of the air carrier, outlined that the development of the new Ryanair’s base would create more than 2,300 direct and indirect jobs at the airport. 

The Irish air carrier chose the BVA airport because it offered the delivery of efficient operations as well as competitive airport charges with a chance for Ryanair to grow the traffic and expand new routes, according to Wilson.

Francois Rubichon, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board at BVA airport, called the launch of the new Ryanair’s hub “a historic day for Paris-Beauvais airport and an achievement for [the airport’s ream]”. Paris-Beauvais airport is the first base announced by the low-cost airline in Europe since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis.

Paris-Beauvais (BVA) became Ryanair’s fourth base in France, alongside to existing Toulouse (TLS), Bordeaux (BOD), and Marseille (MRS) hubs.
