The South Korean low-cost carrier T’way Air plans to add the first Airbus A330 widebodies. to its fleet. Currently, the airline operates a monogamous fleet of Boeing 737 Family aircraft.
The airline seems to be preparing to offer a higher capacity post-pandemic. T’way Air which operates the fleet of 27 Boeing 737-800 jets, each of them configured to fly 189 passengers onboard, revealed its plans to deploy 3 additional Airbus A330-300 jets which typically seat 250-290 passengers in a 3-class configuration.
T’ways expects to change its status of the “all-Boeing” airline by February 2022, when three A330s would be added to the company’s fleet.
The news regarding the expected changes in the airline’s fleet comes along with the end of the training center construction process. The construction work of the new training facility started in 2018, after the low-cost airline and CAE expanded its pilot training agreement. This means that T’way will soon be able to conduct the flight crew and cabin crew training to operate the type at the cargo terminal of Seoul Gimpo International Airport (GMP), South Korea.
The low-cost airline first revealed plans to expand its fleet by adding Airbus A330 jets in December 2020. At the time the initial announcement was made, T’way was considering operating the newcomers on short-haul and medium-haul flights.
