Doha-based Qatar Airways Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner has entered commercial service with a newly designed business class cabin.
Qatar Airways’ newly designed Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, registered as A7-BHA, conducted its first flight, QR127, from Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH), Qatar, and landed at Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP), Italy on June 25, 2021.
The “ultramodern” Dreamliner is scheduled for services from Doha to Athens, Barcelona, Dammam, Karachi, Kuala Lumpur, Madrid and Milan. It has a total passenger capacity of 311 seats: 30 business class suites and 281 seats in economy class.

“In-line with our commitment to offering our passengers an unparalleled travel experience, we are pleased to introduce this much-anticipated Business Class Suite on Qatar Airways’ newest wide-body aircraft, the Boeing 787-9 which will debut onto a number of key routes within our network,” Qatar Airways CEO, Akbar Al Baker said.
The Boeing 787-9 is the latest member of Qatar Airways’ Boeing fleet. According to Qatar Airways, the airline has continued to fly its fleet of 30 787-8s throughout the COVID-19 pandemic “due to its strong fuel efficiency and excellent reliability record”.
Currently, Qatar Airways has a total of 229 aircraft in its fleet standing at an average of 6.7 years old, as per planespotters.net data. The largest part of the airline’s fleet consists of 83 Boeing 777. Adding to that, Qatar Airways operates 53 Airbus A350 XWBs, 37 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, 29 Airbus A320s, three Airbus A321s, and two Boeing 747s. Qatar Airways also has 10 Airbus A380s and 12 Airbus A330s in its fleet. However, all aircraft of both aircraft types are currently parked.
