Icelandair’s Chief Operations Officer (COO), Jens Thordarson, announced his resignation from the airline group’s executive board on September 20, 2021.

“I am grateful and proud of the over 15 years I have had the opportunity to work for Icelandair in diverse roles with fantastic co-workers,” said Thordarson in a statement. “After a fruitful career so far, I have decided to change course and seek other opportunities.”

Thordarson has served Icelandair for almost 17.5 years in different capacities and joined the airline’s executive board as COO in January 2018.

“I would like to thank Jens for his great contribution to the Company over the past years, where he has led important developments in flight operations through challenging times,” said Bogi Nils Bogason, president & CEO of Icelandair Group. “I wish him all the best for the future. “

Thordarson will continue to serve as the COO of the airline for the upcoming few weeks until a new COO is appointed.
