Starting November 8, 2021, Britain’s flag carrier British Airways will bring back five of its 12 A380 aircraft into service, according to HeadforPoints.com.

The superjumbos will first operate on short-haul European routes from London Heathrow Airport (LHR), namely to Frankfurt (FRA) and Madrid (MAD) as part of the return to service training. They will return to long-haul routes from December 3, 2021, the report stated.

AeroTime has reached out to British Airways for comment.

On August 4, 2021, British Airways extended the contract with Lufthansa Technik for its Airbus A380 aircraft base maintenance services, indicating they would come back to active service. The Airbus A380 maintenance services will be conducted at Lufthansa Technik Philippines in Manila, Philippines.

Attending CAPA Live conference on April 14, 2021, British Airways CEO Sean Doyle reaffirmed his confidence in reviving the Airbus A380 operations once the international air travel demand recovers. “[The Airbus A380] works very well for British Airways,” Doyle commented.
