American Airlines (A1G) (AAL) is giving flight attendants who work during the holiday period a one-time holiday pay premium.
This decision came after an operational disruption that took place over the Halloween weekend and resulted in more than 1700 cancelled flights.
In a staff memo published by local news, it is stated that American Airlines (A1G) (AAL) flight attendants who will work between November 23, 2021 to November 29, 2021 and December 22, 2021 to January 2, 2021 will recieve a 150% premium.
“To ensure we’re providing certainty for both our customers and team members, we’re doubling down on our efforts related to our schedule and staffing,” COO David Seymour said in the staff note, which was dated November 5, 2021.
He continued: “On the schedule front, we’ve ensured that November and December are built to meet customer demand and that they are fully supportable by our staffing.”
The note also adds that the airline anticipates 4,000 new team members to join the company in the fourth quarter and more than 600 new flight attendants will join the team by the end of December 2021.
