As international travel slowly recovers, Alaska Airlines has announced that Air Tahiti Nui is its latest global airline partner, operating a direct flight between Seattle and French Polynesia’s capital, Papeete.
Beginning October 4, 2022, Air Tahiti Nui will begin a direct service between Seattle Tacoma Airport (SEA) Faa’a International Airport (PPT) in Papeete, located on the main island of Tahiti.
Excuse our French (Polynesia)…but how does a trip to Tahiti sound? Starting 10/4, you can fly direct from Seattle (SEA) to Tahiti (PPT), thanks to our newest global partner, @AirTahitiNui. Plus, you can go direct from LAX now! https://t.co/AALNyYmH0M pic.twitter.com/LZ5iXCaPLZ— Alaska Airlines (@AlaskaAir) March 29, 2022
Air Tahiti Nui currently has a daily direct service from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Papeete, and the new partnership with Alaska Airlines will make Seattle Air Tahiti Nui’s second US destination.
The Papeete-Seattle route will operate twice-weekly on Air Tahiti Nui’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet.
“Who hasn’t dreamed of visiting Bora Bora? We’re delighted to have Air Tahiti Nui join our array of global airline partners, further connecting the West Coast to the South Pacific,” senior vice president of fleet, finance and alliances for Alaska Airlines Nat Pieper said in a statement.
“Our guests are going to love the convenience of a nonstop flight to this amazing destination on an airline that offers world-class service and amenities flying the beautiful Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.”
“It is with great enthusiasm that we are launching this new direct service to the Pacific Northwest. This will help the further development of tourism to French Polynesia, including from the market of Western Canada,” Air Tahiti Nui managing director Matthieu Bechonnet said.
“Alaska Airlines is the perfect partner for this, and we are looking with great excitement at the new commercial opportunities that lay ahead.”
