Singapore Airlines (SIA1) (SINGY) (SIA) Group’s passenger traffic significantly increased in March 2022, with passenger capacity reaching 51% of pre-COVID levels.

According to SIA, two airlines in the group, Singapore Airlines (SIA1) (SINGY) and Scoot, carried a total of 893,000 passengers during the month, up from 544,600 in February 2022.

The positive results were attributed to the gradual ease of travel restrictions in almost all key markets.

In March 2022, the group’s passenger network covered 93 destinations, including Singapore. During the month, SIA group resumed services to several destinations in Southeast Asia, Australia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Beginning April 1, 2022, Singapore reopened its borders allowing fully vaccinated travelers to enter the country without the need to quarantine or to take on-arrival COVID-19 tests. The move was welcomed by SIA Group, which saw low passenger traffic as a result of travel restrictions.

Looking ahead to the future, the group anticipates passenger capacity to reach around 61% of pre-pandemic levels by May 2022.
