Dubai International Airport (DXB) recorded a 3% month-on-month rise in traffic in November 2022.

The airlines added over 110,000 seats on their flights to and from DXB compared to October 2022.

The figure was announced by DXB Media Office, which referred to a report by OAG Aviation.

According to Gulf News, the increase was recorded despite air traffic dropping by 9 per cent globally in November.

The increase may have been spurred by the FIFA World Cup which is being hosted by United Arab Emirates’ neighbor, Qatar.

Earlier reports suggest UAE plans to receive 1 million additional visitors due to the World Cup, accommodating tourists who opt to stay in Dubai which is just a short trip away from Qatar, yet may be more affordable through the duration of the tournament.

However, according to the report, the increase was still not big enough for DXB to reclaim the title of world’s busiest airport.

The title was claimed by Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, which served 4,658,683 seats in comparison to DXB’s 4,234,717.
