An A320 pilot with 18 years of experience can now add another feather to his cap – delivering a baby midflight while on duty.

Jakarin Sararnrakskul was piloting VietJet flight VZ565 from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) to Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) in Bangkok on February 23, 2024.

During the flight, the cabin crew raised the alarm that a passenger had gone into labor and required immediate medical care.

Despite having no formal medical training and being in control of the flight, Sararnrakskul left his co-pilot in charge of the controls and proceeded to help deliver the baby on board.

The proud pilot, who is a father of one, posted a photo of himself and the newborn baby on his Instagram account, writing in the caption: “I have been a pilot for 18 years. I just helped a newborn baby on the plane today!”

Sararnrakskul also posted a photo of himself and the flight crew, along with his co-pilot, saying that they had finished the job, presumably meaning both the flight and the delivery of the baby.

Sararnrakskul told Viral Press that the newborn baby boy was nicknamed, ‘Sky’.
