Representatives from Air Europa and Airbus have united at Fitur in Madrid to finalize a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 40 A350-900s that was signed at Dubai Airshow 2025.

On January 22, 2026, Air Europa’s President, Juan José Hidalgo, and Airbus’ Head of Sales for Western Europe, Ville Arhippainen, linked up on day two of the Spanish trade event to put the final touches to the agreement.

The two parties met at the Air Europa exhibit stand, where they gathered for photos and celebrated the milestone that will see the carrier introduce the A350-900 into its fleet.

The A350-900s arrival is expected to accelerate the replacement of older widebodies and strengthen Air Europa’s position on transatlantic routes, where demand remains strong.

Hidalgo previously said that the A350-900 is a “game-changer for key destinations in Latin America,” with the aircraft providing the “operational performance and economics needed to expand the airline’s network without compromise”.

At Dubai Airshow 2025, Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business, said: “We are proud to welcome Air Europa into the Airbus A350 family. This order is a strong endorsement of the A350 as the benchmark widebody platform for efficiency and passenger comfort in the long-haul market business.”

Air Europa currently operates a long-haul fleet centered on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and serves a network heavily focused on Latin America, one of the most competitive long-haul markets in Europe.
