AirAsia X announced it is launching direct flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) to Jinnah International Airport (KHI) in Karachi, Pakistan.
The four-times weekly flights are set to commence on May 30, 2025, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
AirAsia X will be the only low-cost carrier to offer a nonstop connection between the two cities. The new route will enhance connectivity, giving a more affordable option for Malaysian travelers and the Pakistani community in Malaysia to travel.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Malaysia estimates that, as of November 2024, there are over 200,000 Pakistanis living in the country. Pakistanis in Malaysia form the largest Pakistani diaspora community in Southeast Asia, making them the sixth largest group of foreign workers in the country.
With a population of 20 million, Karachi is the largest, and considered to be the most cosmopolitan,city in Pakistan. Tourism-wise, Karachi is known for its historical sites such as the mausoleum of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, and the Empress Market, which dates back to the 1800s.

The flights have are set to operate on the following schedules:
Flight D7108 departing Kuala Lumpur 18:25 local time arriving Karachi 21:30 local time
Flight D7109 departing Karachi 22:45 local time arriving Kuala Lumpur 08:05 local time the following day
