All Nipon Airways’ new medium-haul low-cost carrier AirJapan has taken off for the very first time.
For its inaugural flight, the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner left Narita International Airport (NRT) in Tokyo, Japan, just after 6:45 pm local time on February 9, 2024.
The AirJapan flight NQ1 is due to land Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK) in Bangkok, Thailand, shortly before 11.30 pm.
ANA Holdings, which owns both ANA and AirJapan, is hoping to take advantage of the growing number of tourists visiting Japan from Asia.
AirJapan will fly six round-trip flights per week to Bangkok using the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, with flights between Narita and Incheon International Airport, South Korea from February 22, 2024.
An additional service from Narita and Singapore will commence on February 26, 2024.
ANA Holdings opted for an all-economy seating configuration for the AirJapan 787-8s, but the aircraft will offer the same legroom as full-service carrier flights.

“The seats are the brand’s biggest appeal. We hope our customers enjoy comfortable flights to Bangkok,” AirJapan President Hideki Mineguchi said.
AirJapan has become the group’s third largest brand, following ANA and the low-cost carrier Peach, which has been operating since 2012.
A ceremony to celebrate the launch of AirJapan was held at Narita Airport on February 9, 2024.
One-way tickets to Bangkok from Tokyo start at $104, while single trips to Seoul will cost $53. On flights to Singapore, passengers will pay around $120.
