Two people were killed after a BK 160 Gabriel light aircraft crashed in a village in Kampung Tok Muda, Kapar in Klang, Malaysia.
The incident occurred on February 13, 2024 at around 13:45 local time.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) said that the light aircraft, with registration I-POOC, was operated by Air Adventure Flying Club. The aircraft departed from the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB) in Subang for a recreational flight at 13:28 local time.
The BK 160 Gabriel last made contact with air traffic control at 13:35 and no distress calls were received before it crashed.
“The pilot was an instructor who was attached to a recreational flying club. The passenger was a member of the club,” Selangor Police Chief Hussein Omar Khan told Malaysian media outlet The Star.
The victims were identified as Daniel Yee Hsiang Khoon, 30, and Roshaan Singh Raina, 42. Their bodies were found in the cockpit of the aircraft, which was buried approximately two meters deep in an oil palm plantation area. The plane was not carrying any other passengers.
A report by The Strait Times claims the flight was made in preparation for the Singapore Airshow, which is set to take place from February 20 to 25, 2024.
The CAAM said that further investigation will be conducted by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau under the Ministry of Transport of Malaysia.
