Boeing has received a contract worth approximately $14.7 billion from Lockheed Martin to expand production of the seekers used in Patriot interceptor missiles.

The award, announced on October 5, 2026, supports a seven-year plan to triple production of seekers for the PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement, or MSE, interceptor. The seeker is the part of the weapon that identifies and tracks its target, helping guide the missile toward an incoming threat.

The award allows Boeing to begin work while the companies negotiate final contract terms, including pricing.

Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor for the PAC-3 MSE missile, while Boeing supplies its seeker. The companies’ production roles are separate, with the Boeing award covering the targeting equipment rather than complete Patriot missiles or ground-based launch systems.

The contract follows a framework Boeing announced with the Pentagon on April 1, 2026. That agreement called for an immediate production increase while Boeing, Lockheed Martin and the government worked toward a multiyear contract.

At the time, Boeing said it had invested more than $200 million since 2024 to expand seeker production in Huntsville, Alabama. The work included a 35,000-square-foot facility expansion.

The company also said seeker deliveries had increased by more than 30% in 2025. The seven-year framework was intended to give Boeing and its suppliers enough certainty to invest in further increases.

Boeing said hiring and the latest production expansion began earlier this year. It expects the new contract to create hundreds of direct and indirect jobs in the Huntsville area.

The company said it has also upgraded manufacturing facilities and worked with suppliers to support higher output.
