A pilot and copilot survived with non-life-threatening injuries after their Cessna Citation CJ1 crashed during takeoff and caught fire at Bedford County Airport in Pennsylvania on October 7, 2026.

Both were taken to Bedford Hospital, local station FOX8 reported, citing emergency officials.

Bedford Fire Chief Gary Cooper said the jet appeared to have left the runway, crossed a road and stopped in a nearby field. It was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

Video from the scene showed extensive damage to the aircraft and an airport perimeter fence.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the crash happened at about 10:45 a.m. local time during departure. The agency is investigating.

The jet, registered N600AL, was scheduled to fly to Martin State Airport in Middle River, Maryland, near Baltimore, according to flight records cited by Daily Voice.

Fire crews from Bedford, Everett and Alum Bank responded, along with Bedford Ambulance.
