Croatia Airlines has announced it will be significantly expanding its network of international flights operated from Zagreb Airport (ZAG) during 2024. Specifically, the carrier intends to introduce new direct flights between Zagreb and Tirana (TIA) and Berlin (BER), as well as Zagreb and Stockholm (ARN).
The new route between Zagreb and Tirana will operate twice weekly, departing the Croatian capital city on Fridays and Sundays. Tickets have leady gone on sale for this new route. On the new Zagreb to Berlin route, flights will be operated three times a week, departing on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Flights on the new route between Zagreb and Stockholm will also be operated three times a week, with the operating days being Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
During the 2024 peak summer season, Croatia Airlines will be connecting Zagreb directly with 18 international destinations. These include services to Amsterdam (AMS), Athens (ATH, via Dubrovnik), Barcelona (BCN), Vienna (VIE), Berlin (BER), Brussels (BRU), Copenhagen (CPH), Frankfurt (FRA), London-Heathrow (LHR), Mostar (OMO), Munich (MUC), Paris (CDG), Rome (FCO, via Split and Dubrovnik), Sarajevo (SJJ), Skopje (SKP), Stockholm (ARN), Tirana, and Zurich (ZRH).
Another new route for summer 2024 announced by the carrier is direct flights between Split (SPU) and Istanbul (IST), which will be operated three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. In addition, the company is planning to reintroduce the operation of seasonal flights on the Split to Oslo (OSL) and Split to Skopje routes, both of which were introduced in 2023.
In summary, during the 2024 summer season, Croatia Airlines will be connecting Split Airport directly with 21 international destinations or 22 airports. These include Amsterdam, Athens, Vienna, Berlin, Bucharest (OTP), Dublin (DUB), Düsseldorf (DUS), Frankfurt (FRA), Istanbul, Copenhagen (CPH), London (Gatwick and Heathrow), Lyon (LYS), Milan (MXP), Munich, Oslo, Paris, Prague (PRG), Rome, Skopje, Stockholm, and Zurich.
From Dubrovnik, direct international flights are planned to seven European cities – namely, Athens, Frankfurt, Munich, Paris, Prague, Rome, and Zurich – and domestic flights to Zagreb, and Osijek (OSI).
Besides expanding its international network of flights, Croatia Airlines is also continuing to interconnect Croatia’s cities and regions by operating scheduled domestic flights to 7 Croatian airports (Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, Zadar (ZAD), Pula (PUY), Osijek, and Bol (BWK) on the island of Brač).
During the upcoming tourist season, Croatia Airlines is planning to connect Croatia with 28 international destinations or 29 European airports by operating flights on 50 international routes. More specifically, Croatia Airlines is planning to operate more than 17,200 flights and offer more than two million seats – an increase in the total number of flights by about 6% during the peak season compared to summer 2023.
The airline is expecting the delivery of the first of its new A220 aircraft by the middle of 2024, marking the beginning of the replacement of the carrier’s entire fleet with new and technologically more advanced aircraft in the 100-150 seat market segment.
Currently, the carrier operates a fleet of 13 aircraft comprising four A319s, three A320s, and six DHC-8-Q400 turboprops. The company has two A220-100s and 13 A220-300s on order from Airbus.
