Emirates is poised to introduce the world’s first Starlink Wi-Fi powered Airbus A380 following certification of the aircraft installation in the UK.

On April 27, 2026, Emirates said that the iconic A380 is “set to reach new heights” with passengers aboard the airline’s largest jet set to benefit from free industry leading internet access during their flight.

The first Airbus A380, registered A6-EEA, arrived back in Dubai on April 24, 2026, following Starlink installation in the UK and subsequent certification.

Emirates has not confirmed when the first flight of the newly fitted A380 will take place, but staff will no doubt be keen to get things moving as quickly as possible.

Due to the sheer size and passenger capacity of the Airbus A380, the superjumbo requires three Starlink antennas whereas Emirates’ Boeing 777 only needs two.

Compared with the Emirates Boeing 777, the Emirates A380 also features additional wireless access points.

According to Emirates, 25 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft are already equipped with Starlink with more than 650,000 customers so far accessing the technology during flights.

Starlink installations will soon begin at Emirates Engineering facilities in Dubai to accelerate deployment across the fleet.

“As the world’s largest passenger aircraft, the A380 presents unique engineering challenges and opportunities. This industry-first Starlink configuration is designed to meet the demands of the A380’s ‘double-decker’ layout and high passenger capacity and is capable of delivering more than 2 Gbps of total aircraft bandwidth across the cabin,” said a spokesperson for Emirates.

Emirates unveiled plans to install Starlink Wi-Fi across its entire fleet, including all Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s, on the first day of Dubai Airshow 2025.

At the time the airline announced it will fit-out approximately 14 aircraft per month with Starlink, with installation on the Airbus A380 fleet commencing in February 2026.
