Embraer’s advanced air mobility arm, Eve Air Mobility announced on July 19, 2026, just ahead of Farnborough International Airshow 2026, that it has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with aviation finance firm Shearwater Global Capital for 16 eVTOL aircraft.
For Shearwater, which is a subsidiary of alternative investment firm Bay Point Advisors, the potential eVTOL aircraft order is a response to a desire to diversify the company’s portfolio with new types of assets.
This latest order arrived on the back of a yet another, larger, Letter of Intent (LoI) for 30 aircraft signed by Eve with Switzerland-based Moov.
This Lugano-based company is eyeing Eve’s eVTOL aircraft as part of its ambitious “Atlantic Gateway” project in the small island nation of Cape Verde, off the West African coast.
The “Atlantic Gateway” aims to rethink air connectivity within the archipelago, which is currently upgrading its airport infrastructure while experiencing, as well, double digit growth in tourist arrivals.
In parallel to these pre-orders, Eve also announced that ANAC, the Brazilian aviation authority, has published the noise certification criteria for the Eve 100 eVTOL. This is a required step in the aircraft’s ongoing certification process which will allow Eve to fine tune the performance of the aircraft on this front.
ANAC’s proposal, which is open for consultation until August 8, 2026, provides a framework with which to evaluate the Eve 100 noise performance. This is a particularly important aspect of an eVTOL’s performance, since aircraft like the Eve 100 are expected to operate in urban and suburban areas, where noise is a major concern and could be the source of public objections.
In a separate announcement, made on July 20, 2026, the Brazilian firm revealed it has also submitted an application to the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to start the process to obtain a type certificate for the EVE 100 eVTOL.
