Hainan Airlines has partnered with augmented reality (AR) glass maker Rokid to provide an enhanced inflight entertainment experience to its passengers.

On February 7, 2024, passengers on flight HU7874 from Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport (SZX) to Xi’an Xianyang International Airport (XIY) were provided with Rokid AR glasses to enjoy three-dimensional offline movies on a 360-inch borderless screen with a 120-hertz refresh rate and 1,080 pixel resolution.

The glasses weigh 75 grams and have a battery life of up to five hours. It is equipped with dual directional speakers, allowing users to enjoy high-quality sound without disturbing others. Each pair retails for about $420.

The enhanced inflight entertainment experience will last for more than a month from February 8, 2024 until March 31, 2024, in time for the busy lunar new year travel period in China.
