Spanish flag carrier Iberia has joined the ranks of airlines offering Starlink internet connectivity onboard.

The first Iberia aircraft to be fitted with Starlink, an Airbus A330-300 (registration EC-MAA), departed Madrid-Barajas (MAD) for Sao Paulo Guarulhos (GRU) shortly before midnight on June 23, 2026.

In the same week, two major US carriers, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines, also announced Starlink activation milestones.

In November 2025, International Airlines Group (IAG), Iberia’s parent company, signed a deal with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to equip its entire fleet across all its subsidiaries with the increasingly popular satellite-based high-speed inflight broadband service.

The addition is also aligned with Iberia’s 2030 strategic plan, called “Plan de Vuelo 2030”, which allocates €6 billion to be invested over a period of five years to upgrade the passenger experience throughout all consumer touch points.

Iberia, which expects to complete Starlink’s full rollout within the next couple of years, will offer the service for free across all service classes.
