JetBlue has officially launched its new nonstop service connecting New York (JFK) in the United States and Edinburgh Airport (EDI) in Scotland, with the first flight taking off on May 22, 2024.
The US carrier will operate this route daily during the summer season, through to September 20, 2024, using an Airbus A321neo fitted with 160 seats (16 Mint Suites® and 144 economy class seats).
The Scottish capital has now become the sixth European airport where JetBlue operates, following the launch last year of flights from the US East Coast to London-Heathrow (LHR), London-Gatwick (LGW), Paris (CDG), Dublin (DUB) and Amsterdam-Schiphol (AMS).
This new service departs New York JFK in the evening at 21.12 local time and arrives in Edinburgh at 09.30. The return flight departs Scotland at 12.30 local time, arriving in New York at 15.06.
JetBlue is primarily targeting the leisure market with this new route. According to the airline’s announcement, Edinburgh is the UK’s second most popular tourist destination after London.
United Airlines currently operates a year-round nonstop service linking Edinburgh to Newark airport (EWR) and seasonal flights to Chicago-O’Hare (ORD) and Washington-Dulles (IAD), while Delta Airlines offers seasonal services to New York (JFK) as well as to Boston-Logan (BOS) and its hub at Atlanta-Hartsfield (ATL).
