An Airbus A380 has become the fourth Lufthansa aircraft to feature the XXL crane livery as part of the airline’s 100 years anniversary celebrations.
On February 25, 2026, the Lufthansa Airbus A380, registered D-AIMH, landed at Munich Airport (MUC) after departing from Shannon, Ireland, where 35 staff members worked on the design update for 34 days.
Lufthansa said its colleagues “brought the 47-meter-long stylized crane on the aircraft to life and painted a total area of over 4,000 square meters, equivalent to about 16 tennis courts”.
Included in the special celebratory livery is the XXL crane and the lettering ‘1926 | 2026’ and ‘100’.

The A380 joins a Lufthansa A350-900, A320neo and a Boeing 787-9 that already feature the XXL crane livery. In total, seven aircraft with special liveries will be painted to mark the 100th anniversary.
On February 27, 2026, a second Airbus A320neo with an XXL crane is expected in Munich.
Lufthansa announced in November 2025, that six aircraft would be painted in the XXL Crane commemorative livery to mark the airline’s 100th anniversary.

The Airbus A380 will start regular service in March 2026.
