Philippine Airlines has confirmed rumors of a new Boeing order with the announcement that the carrier will acquire up to 20 787-10s.
On July 20, 2026, executives from both Philippine Airlines and Boeing met at Farnborough Airshow to confirm the agreement and sign paperwork in front of media representatives.
Among those in attendance was the CEO of Boeing Kelly Ortberg and William Kimmitt, the Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade in the US.
Under the deal Philippine Airlines placed a firm order for 15 787-10 Dreamliners with the option for five more at a later date.
Before the start of the airshow, there had been speculation that the 85-year-old carrier was on the cusp of agreeing to purchase 15 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners and nine Airbus A350-1000 aircraft.
“The Boeing 787-10 will strengthen our medium and long-haul fleet, allowing us to provide an even better travel experience for our customers while improving operational efficiency and supporting our long-term sustainability goals,” Lucio C. Tan III, President and CCO of PAL Holdings, said.
Philippine Airlines has not previously operated the 787 Dreamliner but its partnership with Boeing stretches back over 80 years.
The carrier currently operates a fleet of 777-300ERs. The new 787-10 Dreamliners are scheduled for delivery starting in 2031.
