Moroccan flag carrier, Royal Air Maroc (RAM), will become the first airline in Africa to equip its fleet with Starlink inflight connectivity.

The Moroccan airline plans to offer SpaceX’s high-speed, low-latency, satellite-based broadband service onboard 41 of its aircraft. The first installations are expected to be completed by early 2027.

The service is going to be provided free of charge to members of RAM’s Safar Flyer loyalty program.

No specific details have been provided about the specific aircraft types that will be fitted with Starlink, but it appears likely that it will include the airline’s long-haul fleet (13 B787s, both –8s and –9s), as well as a large portion of its 47-strong B737 fleet (27 B737-800s and 20 B737 MAX 8s, plus another 14 MAX 8s awaiting delivery).

According to ch-aviation data, as of October 2026, RAM operates a fleet of 76 aircraft (although this figure includes VIP, cargo and inactive aircraft). However, this number is expected to expand in the next few years, as the Moroccan flag carrier aims to strengthen its role as a connector between Africa, Europe and North America.

In April 2024 it was reported that RAM was looking to acquire 200 aircraft, although no new orders have followed through since then.
