Ryanair’s Chief Pilot was dismissed following an internal investigation at the airline.

The airline’s Chief People Officer (CPO) Darrell Hughes shared an internal note to employees on June 14, 2023, saying that the internal investigation found the chief pilot had a “pattern of repeated inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour towards a number of female junior pilots,” according to a report by the Irish business news portal The Currency.

The Irish outlet reported that Ryanair began investigating the manner three weeks ago after one of its employees sent a note to the organization. Furthermore, the Irish Airline Pilots’ Association (IALPA) was reportedly aware of the situation and is currently actively talking with its union members within the airline.

Meanwhile, Reuters reported that the Chief Pilot was dismissed with immediate effect on June 13, 2023, with the airline letting go of the employee since he worked with Ryanair since 2020.

“We do not comment on queries relating to individual employees,” said a Ryanair spokesperson in a statement to AeroTime.

AeroTime approached IALPA for comment.
