A Saudia Boeing 787 struck a parked Philippine Airlines (PAL) Airbus A320 during ground operations at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) on the evening of July 7, 2026.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 23:38 local time, damaged both aircraft, prompting an investigation by aviation authorities.

Initial reports indicate that the left wingtip of the Saudia widebody struck the vertical stabilizer and rudder of the PAL narrowbody, which was parked at Bay 25.

Damage to both aircraft

The Philippine Airlines Airbus A320, with registry RP-C8612, sustained extensive damage to its tail fin. The Saudia Boeing 787, operating as flight SV871, also suffered damage to its wingtip.

Both aircraft have been grounded for technical assessment. The Saudia flight, which was scheduled to depart for Jeddah with 252 passengers, was cancelled following the collision. There were no passengers or crew on board the parked PAL aircraft at the time.

No injuries were reported.

Investigation underway

Airport operator New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) said that a full investigation is being conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“A full investigation is currently being conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, including a review of airside communications, aircraft movement records, and other relevant operational data,” NNIC told local media.

The airport operator added that no airport infrastructure or ground equipment was damaged. Its ground operations and safety teams responded immediately after the incident was reported.

Philippine Airlines said it is coordinating closely with the relevant airport and aviation authorities involved in the investigation.
