Scoot has placed orders for 11 additional Airbus A320neo family aircraft as the Singapore-based low-cost carrier looks to expand its regional network over the coming years.
The airline announced on May 7, 2026, that it has firmed up orders for five A320neo family aircraft and exercised options for six more from its 2014 agreement with Airbus.
Deliveries are expected to begin in 2028.
The new jets, powered by Pratt & Whitney GTF engines, will bring Scoot’s total A320neo family orderbook to 20 aircraft.
Expanding Scoot’s regional reach
Scoot said that the additional aircraft will be configured in a single-class layout, with 186 seats on the A320neo and 236 seats on the A321neo.
The jets can operate routes within a five- to six-hour radius from Singapore, giving Scoot more flexibility to launch new services and feed traffic into the broader Singapore Airlines Group network.
Leslie Thng, Scoot’s Chief Executive Officer, said travel demand is expected to keep growing in the Asia-Pacific region in the years ahead. The A320neo family’s range and capacity, he said, will allow the airline to expand and deepen the SIA Group’s connectivity while offering customers more seamless travel options.
Thng added that Scoot’s mix of Embraer E190-E2 regional jets, Airbus A320 family narrowbodies, and Boeing 787 widebodies allows the carrier to cover short, medium, and long-haul routes.
“This complements the broader SIA network and further enhances Singapore’s position as a leading global aviation hub,” he said.
Growing network footprint
Scoot has steadily expanded both its fleet and destinations in recent years.
Since FY2022/2023, the airline has added 25 new destinations to the SIA Group’s network, including emerging non-metro cities like Chiang Rai in Thailand and Phu Quoc in Vietnam, as well as long-haul routes such as Vienna in Austria. Of those, 16 are operated exclusively by Scoot out of Singapore.
By June 2026, the airline will serve 85 destinations, accounting for roughly half of all the cities Singapore connects to via Changi Airport (SIN)t. Of those, 37 are routes only Scoot operates, underscoring its role in opening direct links to markets that might otherwise remain underserved.
Fleet renewal underway
Scoot currently operates 63 aircraft: 24 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, 30 A320 family jets, and nine Embraer E190-E2 regional aircraft. As part of its fleet renewal efforts, the airline plans to phase out its six older A320ceo aircraft by 2028.
The A320neo family burns up to 20% less fuel than previous-generation jets, reducing carbon emissions and supporting the SIA Group’s goal of reaching net zero emissions by 2050.
