Singaporean low-cost carrier Scoot has announced the six destinations that its first Embraer E190-E2 aircraft will fly to.
The first of nine E190-E2 aircraft is expected to arrive in April 2024, coming from Embraer’s manufacturing facility in São José dos Campos, Brazil.
The six destinations consist of new and existing cities all over Malaysia and Thailand.
New destinations: Koh Samui Airport (USM) and Sibu International Airport (SBW)
Existing destinations: Hat Yai International Airport (HDY) ,
Sultan Ahmad Shah Airport (KUA , Krabi International Airport (KBV), and Miri International Airport (MYY) in Sarawak.
The direct flight services operated by the first two E190-E2s between these destinations and Singapore are expected to begin in May 2024, with the exception of flights for Kuantan and Sibu, which are expected to begin from early June 2024 onwards.
This will be the first time that Scoot, which is a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, has used an Embraer aircraft in its operations. Scoot’s fleet has previously consisted mainly of Boeing and Airbus planes.
In a May 2023 Airport Technology report, the airline’s CEO Leslie Thng said the E190-E2s will allow Scoot to continue operating a modern and fuel-efficient fleet and support Scoot’s network growth strategy by serving “thinner routes to non-metro destinations out of Singapore”.
