Spanish space company PLD Space has raised an additional €108 million by extending its Series C funding round, which originally raised €180 million in March 2026

By bringing the total size of this round to €288 million, PLD Space has already raised €488 million to pursue the development of Miura 5, a two-stage reusable rocket capable of placing small satellites into orbit.

Japanese conglomerate Mitsubishi Electric was the lead investor in the Series C extension, alongside Spanish government-back investment firm COFIDES.

The latest round also allowed for new investors to join in, including US-based non-profit Endeavor, which invests in high-impact entrepreneurs through its Endeavor Catalyst fund, and the Spain Oman Private Equity Fund (SOPEF), a sovereign co-investment vehicle set up jointly by Spain and the Sultanate of Oman, which is managed by MCH Private Equity, an investment firm based in Madrid.

In a press release, Ezequiel Sánchez, Executive President of PLD Space said: “The backing of top-tier industrial, public, and financial investors confirms the strength of our growth strategy and accelerates our ability to commercialize MIURA 5, scale our production capacity, and secure financially sustainable, long-term commercial operations.”

PLD Space is one of the startups participating in the race to strengthen Europe’s sovereign space access capabilities. After first testing the smaller Miura 1 rocket in 2023, the Spanish startup now aims to launch its first Miura 5 rocket from Europe Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana, before the end of 2026.
