The nose gear of an ATR-42-500 aircraft collapsed while the plane was preparing to take off at San Andrés International Airport (ADZ) in Colombia.

The incident occurred on May 1, 2024 at around 07:30 local time. The flight, operated by Colombian airline SATENA, was full of passengers as the ATR aircraft was backtracking on the runway for departure to El Embrujo Airport (PVA) in Providencia, also in Colombia.

Video footage of the incident has been posted on social media X (formerly Twitter), showing the aircraft with its nose on the ground as passengers alight from the rear exit door.

All 45 passengers and four crew disembarked the aircraft without injuries. Colombia’s Technical Direction of Civil Aircraft Accident investigation has opened an investigation.

The aircraft, with registration HK-5104, was built in 2004.

Colombia’s Civil Aeronautics Special Administrative Unit issued a statement on social media, confirming the incident.

“Civil Aeronautics is carrying out coordination efforts to expedite the removal of the aircraft,” the administration said.
