Vietjet announced on October 11, 2026, that it has launched new services linking Hanoi with Almaty and Prague, along with a route between Almaty and Prague, marking the Vietnamese carrier’s first entry into the European Union.

The routes connect Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) in Hanoi with Almaty International Airport (ALA) in Kazakhstan and Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG) in the Czech Republic.

Inaugural ceremonies took place at the Almaty and Prague airports on October 10, 2026, where the first flights were greeted with water cannon salutes.

The services run twice a week, with round-trip flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays, using Airbus A330 widebody aircraft. In addition to economy seating, passengers can book Business or SkyBoss, the airline’s premium product.

According to Vietjet, the Almaty route could also attract Vietnamese leisure travelers, as Vietnamese citizens can enter Kazakhstan visa-free for stays of up to 30 days.

Vietjet plans more European routes as Vietnam’s envoy hails stronger ties with Czech Republic

Vietjet CEO Nguyen Thanh Son described the launch as an important milestone in the airline’s international growth. He said Vietjet intends to add more European services, making travel between Europe, Asia and Australia more convenient and supporting trade and investment.

At the Prague ceremony, Duong Hoai Nam, Vietnam’s ambassador to the Czech Republic, said air connections serve as a bridge between the two countries. He said the new service would help deepen the strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Czech Republic, both at the government level and between their people.

He also thanked Vietjet for its investment in the Czech market and for improving links between Vietnam and Europe.

The new network spans three regions. Hanoi is a gateway to Vietnam. Almaty is Kazakhstan’s largest city and a major Central Asian hub. Prague, the Czech capital, is one of Central Europe’s most visited cities.

The airline said it expects the routes to support tourism, trade and cultural exchange between Vietnam, Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic.
