Frankfurt Airport (FRA)

Frankfurt Airport is Germany's biggest airport and the home hub of Lufthansa, handling more than 61 million passengers a year across four runways at continental Europe's most important connecting point after Paris. Operated by Fraport, it is also Europe's largest cargo airport by many measures and Germany's single largest workplace, with around 80,000 people badged on site.

The airport's next chapter opens in 2026 with Terminal 3, a project two decades in the making that adds gates for 19 million passengers and gives Frankfurt the space its recovery has lacked; the hub remains further below its pre-pandemic peak than most European rivals, making the new terminal both a bet on growth and a competitive answer to Istanbul and the Gulf.
